Chitrakoota
vanam
|
Chitrakoota
vanam is a place mentioned in the Ramayana. It was a very
pleasant and peaceful place in the forest where Rama , Lakshmana
and Seeta set up their ashram . It was the home for numerous
birds and animals , with abundant fruit and flowering plants
.But due to its proximity to the kingdom of Ayodhya they were
often visited by well-wishers and friends who would try to
convince them to return to Ayodhya . Later they shifted to
a place called 'Panchavati' in the Dandakaranya .
The Pheasantry in the zoo has been aptly named as 'Chitrakoota
vanam' . |
