Angadha dweepam

'Angadha dweepam' - The Stumptailed macaque enclosure.
The stumptailed macaque enclosure is called the 'Angadha dweepam' after Angadha - the son of Vali. Sugreeva takes him under his care after Vali is killed by Rama. Angadha displays his heroism and strength when he destroys many a rakshasa in the battle between Rama and Ravana. The Angadha dweepam is part of the Kishkindha area.
Stumptailed macaque

Scientific name : Macaca speciosa
Characters : They distinctively differ from the others by their small tail which is less than an inch long . The orange -red hue on the rump of the rhesus macaque is absent in this species .
Habitat : Hill forests of Assam .
Habits : Habits are much the same as rhesus monkey . They live in large troops close to human habitat . This macaque feeds mainly on the ground . Ground plants , insects and spiders are their usual food . They are good swimmers and their mating season is from October to December .

Nala - Neela dweepam
The Baboon enclosure is called the 'Nala-neela dweepam' after the twins Nala and Neela who are the wise ministers of Sugreeva. They advise Sugreeva on many important matters . Since they know the truth about Hanuman , his strength and courage , they suggest that Hanuman should be sent to fetch the Sanjeevini herb . Thus leading to the famous incident of Hanuman fetching the entire mountain when he is unable to identify the herb .

Baboon

Scientific name : Theropithecus gelada.
Characters : Baboons are adapted to life on the ground. Powerful and aggressive animals about the size of a large dog, baboons have strong, elongated jaws; large cheek pouches in which they store food; eyes that are close together; and overhanging brows. They can distinguish colors and have a keen sense of smell. They have large, often brightly colored, hairless areas on their buttocks, and thick, sturdy legs.

Habitat : They range in large herds, called troops, over rocky, open lands and wooded areas.
Habits : Baboons eat various worms, eggs, insects, reptiles, crabs, mollusks, small mammals, fruits, and young shoots. The largest of the baboons is the chacma (Papio ursinus) of southern Africa. They have several different calls, many of which have specific meanings. After a gestation period of about six months, a female baboon usually bears a single offspring.
